Pondering the Word as “living” (Hebrews 4:12).
Sometimes, revelation comes regarding a matter that seems obvious, such as an understanding that the Word is alive because the Word is Christ.
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
The Word is not the black and red text on the pages of our Bible. The Word is alive, a living being, Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary, Son of the living God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1-2)
Jesus Christ was before there was any manuscript written from God. Our scriptures tell us that “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:3) “In Him was life,” (John 1:4)
He came to bring the Word to life, but He is the life in the Word. We had writings from Moses and the prophets, but when Jesus came to earth, He revealed the Father. The written Word helps us to know, but Jesus came so that we might know HIM and have a personal relationship with the Father and with the indwelling Holy Spirit, to help us understand and see with spiritual eyes.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking the words off the page and placing them in our hearts. Thank You for being the Word, from the beginning, and coming to live among us to give Your life so we could have life in You. You truly are the GIFT of gifts! Happy Birthday, Jesus!
In His care, Bebe
