The Morning Sings

About a week ago I awoke to the words “the morning sings”. It wasn’t that I had a particularly good night, and it wasn’t about my feelings or my circumstances. It was just a beautiful truth the Holy Spirit had spoken before my eyes opened to a new morning.  His words brought peace and joy to my morning. A delight. A smile on my face.

Upon waking I almost always declare, “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” I love the privilege of fellowship with the Father throughout my day. He shares so many beautiful things with me.

I’ve pondered this new phrase each day since hearing it. Today my thoughts considered the song I sing in my heart each new day. If the morning sings, can we choose the song?

Music has power! It can move you into many emotions or even take you to another place in time. A song or melody has the power to change one’s state of mind. Imagine! What we choose to sing can take us somewhere. Where do you want to go? Where does the Lord God want to take you? What is His song over you? What do you want to sing to Him? Can we sing in harmony with the Lord? A duet with God?!!

Listen to your thoughts for a few moments. Do they line up with His Word, or with the World? Do they agree with what someone spoke to you or about you? Or, do they agree with what your Creator and Maker speaks over you? What was His design and intention? If you belong to Him, what is He singing over you? His word says in Zephaniah, “He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”

Choose your song, this day!

If you do not already belong to Him, His arms are open wide to receive you as His own. Just believe. Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

The Lord your God is with you,    the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you;    in his love he will no longer rebuke you,    but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
